Bob Wray presented an invited talk at a workshop at Cognitive Science 2026. The workshop, Laying the foundations for foundation models of cognition, focused on how foundation models could inform and advance cognitive modeling, and what might be required to build towards a larger aim of foundation models of human cognition. Bob’s talk, Architectures of agentic systems: recurring patterns of cognitive function, extended CIC’s cognitive design patterns analysis to issues of cognitive modeling, comparing algorithmic implementations of various cognitive capabilities (like episodic memory) in agentic LLMs and human memory to examine similarities and differences and how the overlaps might tell us something about the requirements for a general intelligence.
